Hacker runs ‘Vista-only’ games on XP, is this what Microsoft means by ‘WoW’?
Microsoft has left no stone unturned to prove that their latest operating system is the best in the world and also the most secure operating system ever developed by the company. To prove that their operating system is the best the Redmond giant has even released few “Vista-only” games to lure gamers to switch to Windows Vista. These titles include Halo 2 and Shadowrun. However this is what Microsoft thinks. Hacking group Warez has released a patch that allows you to easily run these titles on the company’s older Windows XP operating system. However, Microsoft has still not accepted this and has stated that it is not possible to run these games on the older DirectX 9 graphics engine and has urged gamers to switch to Windows Vista. Microsoft is facing some real tough competition from hackers, who till now have remained ahead of the company. This news has also added more fuel to the already burning fire. Earlier this month Falling Leaf Systems started this fire when they stated in a press release that Microsoft is deceiving customers by saying that both these games are “Vista-only”. Such news will surely delay the already delayed adoption of Vista. Microsoft needs to wake up and think of some real “WoW” for Vista…! Via: Aviransplace

Apple’s Leopard 10.5 X OS system becomes a Windows Vista rival
The latest Macintosh operating system is the Leopard. Leopard X takes OS technology to a whole new level. Recently, someone has posted 10.5 X videos at Brightcove. These videos were recorded with Ambrosia software’s utility known as Snapz Pro X 2.1.0.These videos give the users a sneak preview of the 10.5 version of the MAC OS. Unfortunately, it seems like most of the new OS isn’t that ground breaking. It kind of looks alike to other MAC OS’s. There are some interesting stuff. The Leopard 10.5 version comes with new controls, screen savers, Screen sharing, Safari 3, Stacks, spaces and Front Row 2. There is an array of other new features added as well. These include a new type of Parental Control and and Cover flow. This version of Leopard X adds a new dictionary application which can search the original Wikipedia dictionary. I think this dictionary feature is a great one. Also, the new VoIP chat feature in this system is a really neat package. Apple’s Steeve Jobs maintained a low profile at the WWDC 2007 Keynote address as far as commenting on the Leopard X was concerned. According him, he didn’t want: our friends to have to start their photocopiers any sooner than they have to Unlike Microsoft’s hype about Vista, Apple is pretty tight lipped about the new Leopard X. Apple’s Leopard team is probably going to wait out the Vista hype and then break the OS X news to the public in more details. Apple hasn’t released any pricing information on their Leopard 10.5 OS yet. Image Links: Blogsmithmedia, and Apple homepage Source Link: Ministry of tech
