Well, I found a revealing post that in Open Source IT. It rightly says that that traditional software vendors are now under tremendous pressure brought upon by open source to open up and do away with the proprietary software if they have to survive.
It rightly says that the trend has started years ago with Apache HTTP Server or MySQL database and never before as of now, the pressure had been so severe.
There is a list of the software that is facing the heat from the open source counterparts.
Check the list here and think over it for a minute about where lies the future.
