Microsoft has given 12 principles by which users can know about the development of the Windows desktop platform starting from Windows Vista and beyond.



These 12 principles will guide the development of Microsoft Windows. The 12 principles are based on three main areas:



a) Choice for computer manufacturers and customers

b) Opportunities for developers

c) Interoperability for users



The 12 principles are given below:



1) The first principle describes the installation of software

2) The second principle is easy accessing. Computer manufacturers are free to add icons, shortcuts and like to the windows start menu, so that users can easily access them.

3) Third principle is default. The company is designing Windows, so that users can operate non-Microsoft programs by default.

4) Fourth principle describes the promotion of non-Microsoft programs.

5) The fifth principle relates with business terms.

6) The sixth principle deals with APIs. The company is providing a broad range of innovating operating systems.

7) Principle seven involves Internet services, where Microsoft is contributing in the area of Internet services.

8) The principle eight describes about Open Internet access. The company will design and license Windows.

9) The principle nine describes the exclusivity of windows



The principle 10-12 deals with interoperability for users. The company is making its communication protocols for commercial release. The company will license patents on its operating systems.
