Microsoft has invested millions of dollars on its new project named Microsoft’s Silverlight platform. This project is set to pose a tough competition to Adobe’s flash player. Silverlight platform will provide its users with a set of advanced tools to develop flash like web applications.
The project was centre of attraction at the Mix’07 conference in Las Vegas-Microsoft’s annual event for web designers and developers. The tool is all about developing web applications so the web browser that will provide the primary user interface for all this new technology is also equally important. Chris Wilson hinted at some of the things that might be coming in IE 8, while declining to give specific details.
You will find IE 8 much more improved then IE 7. It is expected to have improved RSS, CSS, and AJAX support, in addition the IE 8 will include support for microformats, small tags embedded in HTML code that can be interpreted in various ways by software, such as calendar events or contact information.
The launch time has not been set for IE 8 but it is for sure that it is on its way as the web browser market has become competitive again. Firefox 3 is a big threat to the Microsoft’s IE 7 as it offers Microformat support. The company has hinted that IE 8 development will take another one year but it is not sure of any interim releases, such as 7.1 or 7.5, but the browser does continue to be updated with bugfixes and security patches through Windows Update.
