Microsoft has applied for roughly 90 patents and the applications reveal that Microsoft is getting much keen on improvements.
The applications reveal that Microsoft is pushing its research in the search engine market.
There will also be improvements in ranking methods and document classification but the real interesting ones include linking related queries, optimizing search, identifying results that are spam and using a Bayesian Classifier to measure feed back from the user.
Microsoft is also thinking about children and has filed a patent application for a model for assisting children in authoring stories.
