The Redmond Software giant has stated that it has increased the customer support period of its older Windows XP operating system.
This means that the company is not completely abandoning the OS due to the upcoming Vista launch.
Microsoft has stated that the support will be provided to Windows XP Home Edition and Windows XP Media Center Edition till April 2009. Similar support will also be provided to Windows XP Professional.
This is not the first time that the company has extended the support of its OS. Three years ago the company also extended the support of its Windows 9x operating systems and Windows ME, until June 30, 2006.
