Software giant Microsoft has been publishing security updates for its Windows Operating Systems right from the day they were first launched. The reason for this is that the company has always compromised security for ease of use. And secondly the operating systems have always remained a ripe target for malicious hackers.
Microsoft now has released six security fixes out of which three are rated critical by the company. These three patches are designed to prevent malicious hackers to take remote control over computers without the permission of the users.
One of the patches addresses vulnerability in the company’s spreadsheet program named Excel. This flaw could allow a hacker to break into a PC if the user opens a tainted spreadsheet.
Other areas that are patched include critical holes in its .NET Framework that is a library of computer code. This code is a part of all major offerings of the company including the latest Windows Vista.
The third critical fix is to prevent attacks on Windows 2000 Server and Windows Server 2003. The fixes which are not termed critical will patch some vulnerabilities in the firewall built into Windows Vista, Office Professional 2007 and Windows XP Professional.
