US based company, Intoto, a leading provider of security software for enterprise networking equipment and CPE gateways, has launched the beta version of IntruPro IPS, an enterprise-class intrusion prevention system for small and medium enterprise (SMEs).

IntruPro IPS allows channel partners and IT managers to easily create a robust, enterprise-ready security device using off-the-shelf x86 server hardware. IntruPro IPS is an ideal solution for any small to mid-sized enterprise. IntruPro IPS prevents an intruder from exploiting vulnerabilities in an existing computer system or network.

The system is aimed to prevent individuals inside the enterprise from misusing privileges and exploiting existing vulnerabilities in the network. IntruPro IPS uses multiple detection methods, including signature detection, protocol anomaly and traffic anomaly. The system monitors the network traffic, alerts administrators of any suspicious activity and stops attacks from reaching their intended destination.

IntruPro IPS has capability to identify bandwidth of intensive applications like P2P and IM. It also enables administrators to control bandwidth usage by these applications to preserve bandwidth for mission critical applications. The company has designed the product to plug into the network without any changes to the network configuration either in-front of or behind an existing firewall. The product is designed with patent pending stateful application inspection to reduce false alarms and provide better performance than the traditional intrusion detection system (IDS) and IPS systems.

Sathyan Iyengar, CEO, Intoto, said

With IntruPro™ IPS these businesses can now receive from Intoto and its partners the same level of security, functionality and performance as the offerings we deliver for many of the world’s largest enterprises, with implementation savings of 80 percent or more compared to other IPS solutions.

IntruPro IPS would be available in next 30 days as a free and ready to deploy software for download at Open Intoto . Intoto and its network of partners will charge $1,000 per year per installation to provide yearly signature updates.
