IBM has commented that the company is not supporting Oracle’s Linux. The company said that they are not sure that their computer programs will run on this new offering from Oracle or not.

Oracle on the other hand has stated that their offering is similar to that from Red Hat and any program that is designed for Red Hat Linux will seamlessly run on their Linux.

But still it means that if you are running Oracle’s Linux and an IBM program does not run on it then Oracle will be there to provide any kind of support and not IBM.

Oracle’s claim cannot be taken into much consideration as the company has not been able to back up their assurances from anyone in the market.

IBM guarantees that its products will run on Red Hat Linux, but no such guarantee has been provided for Oracle’s Linux.

Analysts have also stated that guarantee from IBM and other software makers is the key point for Red Hat.

Oracle will also have to try and give the same peace of mind to all the customers so that they can compete with Linux giant Red Hat.
