This is for every new user of Windows XP. There are many things that a layman will never know about Windows XP. These things are very helpful for every person who wants to get most out of this operating system. Check for some of the most interesting facts...

1) If you want to know about the full information of your system, then go to command prompt and then type ’systeminfo’. This command will make the computer produce a long list of useful info. If you want to save this list for future reference then type ’systeminfo>info.txt’, this creates a .txt file which you can save on a desired location.

2) If you have to delete files immediately, without having to move them in your Recycle Bin first, then go to the Start Menu, select Run and type ‘gpedit.msc’ and select user Configuration, Administrative Templates, Windows Components, Windows Explorer and find the Do not move deleted files to the Recycle Bin setting. Set it and you will find your files to be immediately deleted.

3) If you want to lock your workstation with just two clicks of your mouse, then create a new shortcut on your Desktop and enter ‘rundll32.exe user32.dll, LockWorkStation’ in the location field. Give the shortcut any name which you desire. Just click twice on this shortcut and your machine will be locked. If you don’t think this to be easy then press the Windows key + L key...

4) You can start up without needing to enter a user name and a password. Select Run from the Start menu and type ‘control userpasswords 2′, this will open the user accounts application. On the Users tab, clear the box for Users Must Enter A User Name And Password To Use This Computer, and click on OK. An Automatically Log On dialog box will appear, enter the user name and the password for the account you want to use.

5) Windows key +Break brings up the System Properties dialogue box, Windows Key + D brings up the Desktop and Windows key+ Tab moves through the taskbar buttons.
