There were many who found critical flaws in the Windows OS and some of them alerted Microsoft and some exploited the flaws for malicious attacks. This happened from Bangalore to Boston, many came up with flaws in virtually every OS MS came up with. It seems finally that all the critical flaws have been patched up.

To test this, iDefense, the vulnerability research company that was recently bought up by Verisign, is offering $10,000 to any hackers who can find a previously unknown security hole in Microsoft’s Windows operating system.

But hang on before you start jumping, that is if you are one of the hackers or OS security fanatics. There is a catch in the announcement. It is that the flaw must earn what is known as a ‘critical’ rating from MS. For your info MS rates security holes as critical if they could be used by a computer worm to spread without any action on the part of the user.

So if you manage to find one, send in the details of the flaw exclusively to iDefense by March 31. You may cheer for one thing here and that is there is no limit on the number of prizes that can be paid. If five researchers find and report five different Windows flaws for which Microsoft later issues critical advisories, all five will get paid.
