There have been hundreds of products based on Windows XP Embedded like laptops, LCD’s and a variety of other devices. However, the latest advancement in the OS makes it possible to boot the full version of the OS using only a USB flash drive.

The updated version of the OS, Windows XP Embedded SP2 Feature Pack 2007 adds USB 2.0 boot functionality, this will open a range of new possibilities including jkOnTheRun speculates, and quick boot environments for games and other applications.

However, the technology will not be feasible with casual applications as the runtime license costs $90 per unit.
