Over three decades of cold war between Microsoft and Apple came to an end with the launch of Boot Camp. Boot Camp software for the first time will not only allow Windows XP to run on Apple hardware, but will help users install and configure it.



The Boot Camp announcement has sent shockwaves through the Apple community, where some diehard fans see it as a betrayal. Certainly, the move is infected with some risks of not only loosing fans but it would be difficult for apple to persuade software developers to come out with Apple versions of their products.



On the other hand, investors seem to come down on the positive note of the move as the stock rose 9.9 per cent on the news, closing at $67.21 (U.S.). However, it would be prudent saying, if it works out well then most likely, in the short term, Dell is in big trouble.
